REPORTS

WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2021-01200100, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At approximately 2:00 p.m. on January 20, an officer observed five juvenile subjects pass their cruiser and then stop a short distance away, at which point they observed one of the subjects readjusting a firearm in their waistband and then conceal it under clothing. The subjects entered a business and dispersed, however police subsequently located the subject with the firearm a few minutes later and made contact with him. They confirmed their status as a juvenile and located the firearm on their person. Petitions for Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Handgun or Assault Firearm by a Juvenile were sought for the juvenile suspect.

WEAPONS VIOLATION, 2021-01200006, 4000 block of S. Four Mile Run Drive. At approximately 1:20 p.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of a dispute. Upon arrival, it was determined that the known male suspect entered the residence and a verbal dispute with the occupants ensued. During the dispute, the suspect allegedly retrieved a firearm from the residence before assaulting and threatening the male victim. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle prior to the arrival of police. A lookout was broadcast and responding officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 24th Street S. and S. Glebe Road. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and the firearm was recovered. Safiullah Rauf, 26, of Arlington, VA was arrested and charged with Brandishing and Assault and Battery. He was held without bond.

ROBBERY, 2021-01200123, 1200 block of N. Troy Street. At approximately 7:16 p.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the report of a robbery by force. Upon arrival, it was determined that the victim was attempting to enter her residence when the suspect approached her and grabbed her purse strap. A struggle ensued over the purse, during which the suspect pulled the victim to the ground, dragging her down a set of stairs. The suspect then stole her purse and fled on foot prior to police arrival. The victim sustained minor injuries. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’5″ and 155 lbs., with curly hair, wearing a black jacket. The investigation is ongoing.

GRAND LARCENY (series), 2021-0120038/01200054, 4400 block of 33rd Street N./4200 block of 32nd Road N. At approximately 8:04 a.m. on January 20, police were dispatched to the 4400 block of 33rd Street N. for report of a stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 4:59 a.m., the suspect exited a white SUV driven by a second suspect, then gained entry to the victim’s unlocked vehicle and tampered with items. The suspect then entered a second vehicle, which was unlocked with the key inside, and stole it. The vehicle is described as a red 2018 Volkswagen GTI with Virginia license plates. A second vehicle the 4200 block of 32nd Road N., which was unlocked with the keys inside, in was also reported stolen overnight. The vehicle is described as a black 2013 BMW M5 with Virginia license plates F10MM5. There are no suspect descriptions. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2021-01190066, 500 block of 23rd Street S. At approximately 10:50 a.m. on January 19, police were dispatched to the report of breaking and entering. Upon arrival, it was determined that at approximately 5:50 a.m., two unknown suspects forced entry to a business, causing damage, and stole a safe and cash register containing an undisclosed amount of cash and documents. Suspect One is described as a Black male, wearing a black jacket, black sweatpants, black shoes, black gloves, and a mask. Suspect Two is described as a Black male, wearing a gray jacket, black pants, black shoes, black gloves, and a mask. The investigation is ongoing.

BURGLARY (late), 2021-01190146, 200 block of N. Columbus Street. At approximately 4:07 p.m. on January 19, police were dispatched to the late report of a burglary. Upon arrival, it was determined that between January 6 and January 19, an unknown suspect(s) attempted to force entry to a garage, causing damage. There is no suspect description(s). The investigation is ongoing.
